Oh, hey November, I wasn’t expecting you just yet! Here in Northern California we were still enjoying summer weather until just a few days ago. Of course, with the end of Daylight Savings Time, it’s pretty clear now that the season is changing. I realize I’m in the minority here, but I’m a happy girl when we roll the clocks back. As a morning person (I know, I know, but I’ve learned not to fight it), so that extra hour of light when I wake up is worth the early sunset. Plus we get crisp, autumn air. Slow-roasted dinners. Big sweaters. Here are a few of my other favorites for this November.
| Thistle Meats in downtown Petaluma. Learn more about this excellent local purveyor here. If you live out of the area, this is a great reminder to poke around your own city for an artisan butcher or local ranchers who are providing high quality, thoughtfully raised animals to the local community. With the holidays approaching, make sure your family is celebrating with the very best meats and cheeses.
| I love the idea of getting one step ahead of the inevitable January resolutions to clean up your diet. Completing a 21 Day Sugar Detox before the holiday season sets you up to make confident, healthy decisions during a season of infamous indulgence. Show your sugar monster who’s boss!
| Virgin Coconut Oil By now most of us know what a great cooking oil this is, but when it comes to dry winter skin, the richness of coconut oil is hard to beat. I love to apply all over my feet, then slip into cozy socks and let all that moisture sink while I work, cook and relax each evening.
| This article from Mind Body Green reminds us of a few simple steps we can take to cultivate a joyful life. Good read, especially given this hectic, electric, modern world we live in.
