I was gifted a Fitbit (this version) at Christmas, and have been wearing it daily to get an idea of just how much I’m
not moving. Both of my jobs keep my sitting at a desk, and to add to that, I’m one of those people who loves to curl up with a blanket and read for hours on cold, winter days. So, yeah, not quite hitting the step goal. At all.
No doubt, the last four days have had me very focused on cooking and eating healthfully, and avoiding any pitfalls full of sugar and grain, but I think now it’s high time to address the next piece of the puzzle. I realize that the general consensus recommends 10,000 steps a day as a target goal. Given my rather, ahem, poor current step count, I’m gonna baby-step this one and give myself a target of 8,000 steps for the next several days, and then bump it up to 10k. I tend to walk more on weekend days naturally, so the next couple days should be successful, and I’ve planned a hot date with the treadmill this afternoon to help with today’s rainy day step goal. I’ll update my posts with step info,
Morning Snack: One cup of bone broth with coconut aminos, salt, and green onions (I made a fresh batch overnight, so couldn’t resist a cup this morning)
Breakfast: Last of the bolognese with spaghetti squash
Lunch: Finished off the last of my Buffalo Chicken Egg Muffins
Dinner: I crumbled up some of our chorizo + beef burger patties into a skillet of onions and peppers to make a taco filling, and scooped that onto some cauliflower rice with green onions. Husband had black beans also, and everything was piled up with the usual salad fixings, guac and salsa. So basically, we had giant taco salad bowls. N O M.
Dessert: Yep, I went there. Diane has included several “not-sweet” treats in her 21DSD books, because some nights you just need alittle something. I made a quick batch of the Not-sweet Cinnamon Cookies. They are definitely NOT sweet, but they do deliver a chewy texture and a satisfying after dinner nibble. I may or may not have added almond butter on top.
Daily Steps: 7649 Close to my first target, but not quite. I should have stayed a little longer at the gym!
